Description
SAIC has an immediate need for a Mechanical Engineer, supporting the MLRS team located on Redstone Arsenal, in Huntsville, Alabama.
Responsibilities and Roles
- This candidate will design, develop, document, test and debug applications software and systems that require low level control processing (Interrupts, Timers Digital I/O and serial communication protocols) for electronic, electro-mechanical, or electro-optic equipment.
- Aid in the development of embedded software for use on real-time and near real-time operating systems and processors including networking and radio systems.
- Requires basic knowledge of reading schematics of complex electronic assemblies.
- Conducts multidisciplinary research and collaborates with equipment designers and/or hardware engineers in the planning, design, development, and utilization of electronic data processing systems for product and commercial software.
- Determines computer user needs; analyzes system capabilities to resolve problems on program intent, output requirements, input data acquisition, programming techniques and controls; prepares operating instructions.
- Frequent use and application of technical standards, principles, theories, concepts and techniques.
- Provides solutions to a variety of technical problems of moderate scope and complexity where analysis of situations or data requires a review of the variety of factors.
- Works under general direction on routine work.
- May receive detailed instructions on new projects or assignments. Follows established procedures.
- Work is reviewed for soundness of technical judgment, overall adequacy and accuracy.
- Exercises judgement within defined procedures and practices to determine appropriate action. Contributes to completion of milestones associated with specific projects.
- Operate as a hybrid engineer for the Tools and Trainers (TnT) team.
- Candidate will learn the test asset environment thereby becoming a contributor to solution development and implementation.

Qualifications
- EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE BS, Mechanical Engineering and 0 years experience. Four (4) years of experience may be applied in lieu of a bachelors.
- Ability to creatively problem solve, learn new skills (ADO, CAD, etc), and communicate/articulate solutions to management.
- Candidate will be flexible and willing to learn in an agile environment.
- An understanding of the MLRS system will be achieved through cross training in various roles.
- KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS AND ABILITY Frequent use and application of technical standards, principles, theories, concepts and techniques. Receives assignments in the form of objectives and establishes goals to meet outlined objectives. Work is reviewed by supervisor/lead to measure meeting objectives. Directs established guidelines, procedures and policies.
- PROBLEM COMPLEXITY Provides solutions to a variety of technical problems of moderate scope and complexity where analysis of situations or data requires a review of the variety of factors.
- FREEDOM TO ACT Works under general direction on routine work. May receive detailed instructions on new projects or assignments. Follows established procedures. - Ability to obtain a secret security clearance; U.S. citizenship required
