Position Summary

An intern is needed to assist with the management of career-focused partnerships with other students, stakeholders, colleagues, and professionals across multiple departments.
The intern will communicate the approach, answer inquiries, and help oversee event operations and performance.
Under the close mentorship of a professional staff member, the intern will undertake a range of ongoing activities.
The intern will be assigned projects of varying levels of professional complexity requiring knowledge and expertise gained through the current pursuit of a relevant higher education degree.
Work study based on the financial need of a student who applies for federal financial aid through the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) or Texas Application for State Financial Aid (TASFA). It provides funds that students earn through part-time employment to help pay the cost of their educational expenses. Federal and Texas work study can be on campus or off campus. If on campus you will usually work for your school, if off campus, your employer will usually be a private non-profit organization or a public agency, and the work performed must be in the public interest. Your school might have agreements with private, for-profit employers for Federal or Texas Work-Study jobs. This type of job must be relevant to your course of study (to the maximum extent possible).

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

The internship is offered by Dallas College to afford individuals the opportunity to gain practical work experience/knowledge in a field of interest related to the degree being obtained.
Individuals are able to shadow and receive training experiences from knowledgeable professionals.

Key Responsibilities

Interns will assist with the day-to-day operations of connecting students to internships and employment opportunities.
Interns may assist with creative decisions, presenting information, providing instruction, and supporting administrative tasks as needed.
Interns may also assist with the planning of such events as Career Fairs, Exhibits, and Expos.
Perform other duties as assigned.

Physical Requirements

Normal physical job functions performed within a standard office environment. Reasonable accommodations may be made to individuals with physical challenges to perform the essential duties and responsibilities.

Minimum Qualifications

Undergraduate students are awarded federal work-study funds in the financial aid package. You must meet the Satisfactory Academic Progress standards set by Dallas College.
You must be enrolled and certified in at least six hours (half-time) for Fall and Spring. If attending summer semesters, you must be enrolled in at least three hours (quarter time).
You must be a U.S. citizen or eligible noncitizen. You must not have any prior institutional balance or blocks. Students must have transportation to off-campus worksites.
